Mosaic Church & Preschool
Character Camp 2022
June 13-July 22, 2022, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
The Mosaic Church & Preschool will offer a six-week summer day camp for children and youth in Savannah (Chatham County) Georgia.
Children and their families will gain: the benefit of daily positive interactions, new understandings of the importance of character development and physical activity. Enrollment is open to all children ages 5-14. Each week, your child will focus on a different aspect of character development.
How the Mosaic Character Camp will benefit children and youth?
‘As a general category, statistics reveal the important benefits of summer camps for children. Ninety-six percent of campers say that “camp helped me make new friends,” and 92 percent say, “Camp helped me feel good about myself.” Seventy percent of camp parents say, “My child gained self-confidence at camp” (American Camp Association’s Annual Report, 2005).
Summer camp is often the first non-academic experience away from home, in a new setting with unfamiliar peers, and can create the foundation needed for successful longer-term experiences away from home. Supportive camp staff help build bonds within the camp community and gently encourage even the youngest campers outside of their comfort zones, challenging them to take positive risks and engage in independent decision making.’1
Secondly, Mosaic’s Character Camp offers the value of a character centered camp atmosphere where Character Education takes center stage daily. Former U.S. Secretary of State and former Chair of America’s Promise—The Alliance for Youth, Colin Powell asserted support for summer camp, saying, “It teaches them how to get along with other people— both other young people as well as adults. To give our children a safe place to learn and grow . . . camp does that.”
There will be activities centric to summer camp program including arts & crafts, sports, indoor and outdoor games, new friends, and other fun ways that will help your child both grow and learn. Instilling positive character traits in an informal environment under the guidance of young adult camp counselors will allow for personal development of your child. Character Camp will strengthen children’s soft skills, such as communication, teamwork, problem solving, responsibility and trustworthiness and professionalism.2 The Character Camp Curriculum Model
The Mosaic Character Camp will support children’s physical, social and emotional well-being for multiple youth age groups. Children will be grouped
by age; 5-7, 8-10, 11-14.
